This was an exhibition that covered every part of Glasgow life. There were paintings of every eminent person and lithographs of scenery around the city, which has changed considerably as you can see. There were also daily use household objects exhibited. It was designed to give visitors an all-round view of Glasgow life from the past to their present.

So many of the pages are uncut, which makes the book feel far newer than it actually is. It’s a good thing separating uncut pages to me is like popping the foil on coffee or bubble wrap for others. I have a wee carved bone doodah to do it with.
Hello my name is Melissa the previous question was from my son inlaw a couple years ago.The book is mine .I’ve had it for many years.My book states that there were only 50 copies made of which I have number 4.Ive only seen my book mentioned one time by someone who went by the name Trans 89 from the UK.He stated that none were known to exhist.I was just curious to see if anyone has any information about it.Thank you
Hiya, there’s not much I can give you outside of what my copy has to say, as you can see in the scans above;
“This Edition (i.e., the copy I have) is limited to Four Hundred Copies for Subscribers only, of which this is
No. 328.
Fifty Copies were also printed on Hand-made Paper, with the Illustrations on Japanese.”
I can only assume you’ve obtained one of the 50 printed with illustrations on Japanese paper. This would likely have been for those higher-level subscribers who got in early enough to merit one of these, more limited edition, copies.
I have number 4 of the limited 50 prints. It’s so difficult to find any info on this book. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
