I’ve been wanting to upload the Book of Days for ages now but felt like it would only be worth it after I’d uploaded a fair few other books first on more general Scottish History. This means I have information from other sources to apply to dates that have little or no Scottish connection within this Chambers’ publication. This is the same Scottish, Edinburgh based, author of the ‘Domestic Annals of Scotland‘ (1885), if anyone should be able to find a Scottish event for almost every date I would have thought it to be this author of these ‘Annals’, as it’s where I’ve obtained quite a lot of “from other sources” information so far. I had complained while uploading that book of his seeming bias against his own country and reticence to inform its population and the wider world of its successes and therefore was unsurprised to find he hadn’t included a Scottish tidbit for every date of the Calendar. He did surprise me by saying things like “in our country” and then going on to talk about an English only incident. I’ve done my best to fill in any blanks so we’ll see how it goes. I only hope I’ve uploaded enough resources to use. This is a beautiful 2-volume set with excellent illustrations so I hope to find the majority of use.
