Regardless of the front cover, that had been separated from the book before I acquired it, I love this wee souvenir book. The spine was very elaborately embossed with a design of thistles. The front cover image of Stirling Castle is very atmospheric and from a nice angle. I haven’t started to read this Mauchline Ware publication as yet. The type is very wee but I’m determined to get it read and uploaded to the site complete with the illustrations throughout. The Grace McChlery inscription is interesting as there was an elderly voice actress by the same name who starred as Mrs McCotton in the radio series ‘The McFlannels’ which was about a working-class Glaswegian family. We listened to the episode the link is for under the scan of the inscription as well as a Christmas episode via Youtube and they were really enjoyable. For more on Mauchline Ware see the Album.
