[Anecdotes of Burns Contents]

EARLY associated with Burns, published a volume of indifferent poetry in 1789. He commenced life as a grocer in Irvine, but gave it up and became a teacher. In later years he acquired considerable wealth, and was a member of the Town Council for many years, part of which time he acted as magistrate of the burgh. He died in 1830, at the age of seventy.
