This booklet is published by the Scottish Secretariat to meet and increasing demand for an authoritative copy of the Treaty of Union of 1707 between Scotland and England. The full text of the Treaty, as well as that of the Act of Security, has been printed. In addition explanatory material has been added and statements by Archibald Alison, J. Keir Hardie, Annie Besant, James Maxton, Charles Sarolea, and others. 

Notes are also provided on the Treaty of Northampton, 1328, the Stone of Destiny, and the Radical Rising.
