‘Heroines of Scotland’ (1889)

This was obtained after I was asked to provide some information about the Scottish heroine, Black Agnes, of Dunbar. I had begun by resorting to the newspapers, where I found Andrew Cheviot’s weekly series, ‘Black Agnes; A Romance of the Siege of Dunbar,’ within the Aberdeen Weekly News dated from 3rd May, 1890, to 24th May, 1890. I’ve included, for that contents page, some snippets from Agnes’ true history, from other papers. I wanted a published book that went into her life and found this one. It was originally presented as a prize at Camphill Public School, Paisley, to an apparently green-fingered Jeanie Kirkwood, in 1891.
